Fall Outing – Peterborough

by on Sep.27, 2010, under Forum

We will be heading to Peterborough for our Fall Outing this year.

Photo opportunities will include architecture (Peterborough’s church, university and century-old homes), fall foliage (Mark Burnham Forest and the Kawartha countryside), Lang Pioneer Village (30 minutes east of Peterborough in Keene), the lift locks (lots of reflections and a beautiful drive) and, the best part, an opportunity to socialize with those folks you sit beside every Tuesday but hardly know.  LPV is celebrating ‘Applefest’  on October 3 from 10:00 to 4:00 (well behaved dogs are welcome in the village!).  This is always a great photo op and remember the special category this year is ‘outings’ so anything taken this weekend will qualify for submission.

Although Peterborough is close enough to make it a day trip, some of us will overnight at one of the many hotels on Lansdowne Street.  For those of us that travel with a four legged son or daughter,  the Comfort Inn (705 740 7000),  the Quality Inn (705-748-6801) and the Super 8 (1 866 630 7666) accept small dogs. The rates are in the $100 range.  Book ASAP as I suspect this will be a popular weekend for the foliage and rooms will book quickly.  Please let me know at Tuesday’s meeting if you will be attending and we will swap phone numbers and arrange meeting places for Friday night and Saturday morning.  If you want a roomie, I would suggest you book a room and find one on Tuesday.  We can always cancel a room if we have overbooked.
