Wise Advanced has announced its new Portable SSD 8K ahead of the upcoming IBC Show in Amsterdam. This USB-C SSD is a versatile recording solution built for use with digital cinema cameras.
Building on its 4K predecessor, the Portable SSD 8K offers claimed stable sustained write speeds of 700 MB/s for the 1TB model, and reaching 1500 MB/s for the 2TB and 4TB models. This performance allows users to capture all of the video codecs on Blackmagic PYXIS 6K, and even Blackmagic RAW 12K 3:2 (Open Gate) on the PYXIS 12K.
Featuring a USB4 interface, the Portable SSD 8K provides ultra-fast read speeds. Wise Advance’s close partnership with Blackmagic Design, including working with their rigorous compatibility testing, ensures reliable solutions for Blackmagic camera users.
Pricing & Availability
The Wise Portable SSD 8K is set to be available in mid-October 2025 and will include a standard 50 cm USB-IF certified USB4 cable. I don’t currently have information about pricing.
