Simmod Lens has introduced its new Apsara Lumière T1.4 Super Speed and Prestige Cine Macro Lenses. Up until now, the Canadian company has specialized in lens modifications and accessories.
The Apsara Lumière T1.4 Super Speed lenses were made in collaboration with SIRUI. Essentially, at least from my understanding, the lenses are based on SIRUI designs, and the Simmod Lens has then altered the characteristics of those designs and put them into cine housings. The Prestige Cine Macro Lenses are new designs.
Named after the celestial dancers of Southeast Asian mythology, Apsara draws inspiration from grace, artistry, and devotion. A portion of every lens sale supports the Apsara Academy, a non-profit initiative that provides filmmaking education and access to underrepresented talent in developing countries. The program began in Cambodia, where the launch films were shot with a self-taught local crew, embodying the brand’s spirit of empowerment through creativity.
Apsara Lumière T1.4 Super Speed
The Apsara Lumière T1.4 Super Speed lenses feature a fast maximum aperture of T1.4. The lenses are said to be inspired by the soul of vintage lenses, yet built with modern reliability.
Simmod Lens states that the Lumière blends character-rich rendering with sharp optical performance across today’s high-resolution digital sensors.
Each lens is assembled and calibrated in Canada, using premium coatings and precision-milled components. The series consists of 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm focal lengths. The lenses are available in Nikon Z, Sony E, Canon RF, and Leica L.
Patent-Pending Illumination Feature
The Apsara Lumière series features a patent-pending illumination system that consists of an integrated, battery-powered light source that is designed to softly illuminate the focus markings on the lens barrel. Built for real-world shooting conditions, this feature ensures visibility of your marks in low-light or night shoots without the need for external lights, gaffer tape hacks, or flashlights held between your teeth.
