NANLITE has announced lumo, a lightweight, foldable light designed to enhance smartphone photography and videography. It is fully MagSafe compatible and equipped with a built-in rechargeable battery.
lumo snaps onto your phone, and there are no cables or additional setup required. It has a foldable design and it is claimed to deliver a soft ring glow that adds catchlights to the eyes. It is being squarely targeted at content creators who are taking selfies, making video calls, and capturing short-form content.
lumo is smaller than your palm and it weighs 63g and folds down to 6.84 x 6.52 x 1.4cm (2.69 x 2.57 x 0.55″).
The lumo attaches to any MagSafe-compatible phone, or to other phones by using the included stick-on magnetic ring.
Its dual-hinge design lets you adjust the angle, so it can be used as a fill light, phone stand, or grip. It can be used as a stand to prop up your phone for hands-free video calls, content viewing, or filming. With another twist, it transforms into a steady phone grip.
It features a metal body, and it comes in two colors, Mint Blue and Polar Black.
According to NANLITE, lumo delivers good color accuracy with a CRI average of 97 and TLCI average of 98.
A short press will cycle through four brightness levels, and a long press will switch between three different color temperatures.
The built-in lithium battery is claimed to operate the light between 75 minutes to 5.5 hours, depending on the setting. It can be charged via the USB-C port and supports various power sources, including chargers, power banks, and mobile phones.
