Italian lighting company Maxima has officially unveiled Rapida, a compact and powerful battery-first LED light with a claimed output of 23,000 lx, low power consumption, an all-weather IP55 rating, in a fixture that weighs just 1.8kg.
It is compatible with Bowens-S lighting modifiers and Profoto mounts via an adapter.
The Rapida was designed to be battery-first and is compatible with various V-mount batteries between 14 and 28 volts.
Maxima is aiming to reach wedding, street, and fashion photographers, solo and travel video makers, and those doing interviews and small documentaries.
You can power it via the integrated driver or go untethered with V-Mount batteries. In both setups, you get the same Maxima-grade output, whether you’re in your studio or out chasing the shot. The light is claimed to offer best-in-class efficiency and our patented thermal management system. Rapida maximizes battery run-time while minimizing energy use and environmental impact.

The light has 850lux/w (measured at 1m with Maxima Fresnel in spot mode.
At just 31cm long and weighing in at 1.8kg, Maxima Rapida is so light and nimble to perfectly fit into most camera kits, while still allowing plenty of space for accessories, optics, and cameras.
The clever cheese plate at the back, with 3 different threading options and nothing less than 13 mounting points, allows for mounting of a vast array of accessories and grips: from Maxima’s own PivotMount 2.0 to mini-tripods, from boom poles to magic arms of different brands and sizes.
There is no current information about pricing or availability; however, Maxima told me that it will be their most affordable fixture to date.
