KINE

Kinefinity has announced its new M502 4K Multi-Purpose Broadcast Camera, the first model in the M Series. The M502 combines the imaging technology of Kinefinity MAVO cinema cameras with the MC Series Live to deliver native 4K output in a compact, lightweight body.

The camera features a 1-inch 5K CMOS sensor with a B4 mount, making it fully compatible with B4 servo lenses. Kinefinity states that it is ideal for broadcast, program production, virtual reality, and remote setups, and that the camera brings cinematic-quality imaging to versatile production scenarios.

The M502 is a good option where users need a compact and mobile system, for confined setups such as jib arms, helicopter mounts, steadicam, or cablecam positions in sports venues. It can be used independently or in multi-camera shoots and is fully compatible with stabilizers, handheld setups, wireless operation, and aerial cinematography.

It has been optimized for low power consumption and quiet operation, and it is claimed to maintain minimal noise even when outputting 4K.

The M502 integrates with the MC Series Live Broadcasting System, providing high system compatibility for broadcast setups. Direct 12G-SDI output connects to the MC5020 SDI I/O module and transmits via fiber to the CCU, simplifying cabling and ensuring stable broadcast workflows. Genlock sync input and high-precision timing make the M502 ideal for immersive content creation, including XR and virtual production.

The M502 is claimed to feature exceptional sensitivity and a wide dynamic range for excellent low-light performance. It supports native 4K output via 12G-SDI, with SDR and HDR color gamuts to meet the demands of modern
4K/HDR live production.

The M Series also offers other configurations for diverse production needs. There is also the PL mount M603 S35 6K for cinematic productions, and the M803 8K full-frame for high-end productions requiring shallow depth of field and wide-angle visuals.
