The Vespid2 series is claimed to feature improved image quality and better sharpness. DZOFilm also states that they have all but eliminated chromatic aberration in the center of the image and that the new lenses provide a cleaner, more consistent bokeh when compared to the original VESPID line. They are also claimed to have less focus breathing, and distortion.

All of the lenses are color-matched and feature the same coatings. They are claimed to have a very neutral color look, and they have a more modern and clean look than their predecessors. The lenses weigh between 1.8 lb / 800g to 2.2 lb / 998g, depending on the focal length.

The focus has a 300-degree rotation, which is slightly more than the original VESPID’s 270 degrees. The updated housings feature a new coating that is claimed to provide a better grip while reducing reflections. The lenses also feature a common 80mm front diameter.

One of the biggest new additions to the Vespid2 is Cooke/i technology that allows the transmission of metadata when using supported cinema cameras from brands like ARRI, Blackmagic, and Sony. A LEMO connector on the side of each lens can also be used to integrate focus data with virtual production workflows.
